Healthy Beginnings Nurses

The role of Healthy Beginnings Nurses

Here at Healthy Start we endeavor to create a seamless service delivery system from the prenatal period to age three, designed to decrease infant mortality and enhance birth outcomes for residents of Palm Beach County.

Goals of Healthy Beginnings Nurses

  • Improve pregnancy outcomes.
  • Increase the knowledge of mothers with newborns in all areas of parenting.
  • Promote prevention and early identification of abuse and/or neglect.
  • Provide unduplicated care coordination.
  • Provide screening and appropriate referral for developmental delays and to improve infant/child health by encouraging parents to establish a medical home and begin the immunization process.

Services offered by Healthy Beginnings Nurses:

  • Nursing home visits to pregnant women with infants for prevention and education.
  • Paraprofessional (family support workers) assist nurses with home visiting services and translations.
  • Nursing assessments and referrals for services and care coordination.
  • Child birth education classes in Spanish.
  • Breast-feeding information and support.
  • Immunization assessment and referral.
  • Parenting classes in Spanish.
  • Family Planning education and referral.
  • Community education, participation in community events.
  • Bus passes.
  • Car seat.
