Delray Beach, FL-The
Community Health Division of
the Palm Beach County Health
Department has been taking a
holistic approach to what
makes this community healthy
now and in the future. Three
strategic issues have
emerged:
-
How will the county
consistently improve
health outcomes of its
residents?
-
How will quality,
equitable, affordable
and accessible health
services be linked?
-
What can be done to
create an affordable,
safe and caring
environment for all of
our residents?
The fourth in the series of
five workshops on how to
create a healthy community
with these strategic issues
in mind, will take place
February 16, from 9:00 AM to
1:00 PM at the Pompey Park
Auditorium, 1101 NW 2nd
Street. This workshop will
cover two areas,
Environment and Physical
Fitness, and public
input is welcome.
Environment will be
hosted by Palm Beach County
Health Department
Environmental Division,
Department of Environmental
Protection, Palm Beach
County Department of
Planning, Zoning and
Building with a topic of
adequate green and open
space around neighborhoods
and town centers for people
to play, recreate, and
relax. Physical Activity
will be lead by Prime Time,
Palm Beach County Parks and
Recreation and Palm Beach
County Sports Institute with
a visioning of ample bike
paths, walking and
equestrian trails, play
areas, sport fields, and
courts. Also a community
with structured activities
like swimming, dancing,
aerobics, motorcycle racing,
and specific population
based activities.
The final workshop covering People/Family,
Transportation/Travel will
take place February 28 in
Royal Palm Beach.
The Community Health Division has been developing plans and
strategies that will set the
direction of health in our
community over the next 10
years.
